This year marks my 25th year as a licensed marriage and family therapist and my 5th year in private practice. I wish I had kept track and knew just how many hours I’ve spent behind closed doors, meeting with clients, giving them my undivided attention and helping them to discover their own inner strengths for their journeys.

Of course, in the early years, most of these meetings were at the kitchen tables of families who allowed me “in”, some more willingly than others. Believe it or not, I still remember some of those early families who undoubtedly taught me more than I taught them.  When I do reflect on the individuals and families who have come my way, I think of them with care and warmth.

Doing this work is both challenging and rewarding. Watching people stretch themselves to become better, healthier human beings is a joy.  Being invited into people’s difficult and sometimes dark lives is an honor that I do not take lightly.

Thank you to all who have trusted me in this way. I wish you light for your journeys ahead.
